Short Review : I loved it.
Long Review: It starts off as a silent movie on the hardships of making your wealth in the Wild West, and then slowly turns into a life story of obsession. All of the acting is top-class excellent. The characters are nicely grey, there were times when I hated the mian character and times when I felt sorry for him. The landscapes are awesome, see it on a big screen, and the soundtrack, by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, is fabulous. The Soundtrack adds a whole new layer of tension to the film. After more than 2.5 hours I was ready for more, and yet the ending made perfect sense. Good stuff.
Went to see The Nines of Tuesday night. I enjoyed it a lot. Here's my review on Big Dumb Object. Robin also has a review.
The film is out on November 30th, I got offered preview tickets and we saw it at The Soho Screening Rooms: small, free salmon sandwhiches, free beer and wine. The guy on the desk asked if we (Matt, Robin and I) were from the same publication. Which means my blog is a publication now. Which is nice.
We went to see Atonement on Wednesday.
It was okay. Well made, but lacking somewhat in plot. TheDunkirk scenes were amazing. The start wouldn't have been tense at all if it were not for the music.
James McAvoy was good, Ikea Knightley was less good.
I liked it. Intense, non-stop action, crazy brilliant fighting and stunts. Relentless.
I read all the Bourne books years ago and liked them a lot (The Bourne Identity is particularily great), and the film, although completely different from the book, seemed to me to capture the essence.
Video: Show us a movie or show that you absolutely can't stand watching.

Stupid. Rubbish. Words are failing me....
There seems to be a load of top 10 SF film lists going around at the moment. So here's a personal list of The Top 10 SF films that I haven't seen. The list to choose from seems to be getting longer rapidly as I get worse at actually getting to the cinema. I used to see everything that came out, not just SF, now I'm lucky to see 3 films a year. Oh well.
- Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind - Got it on DVD for Christmas, still waiting for a quiet evening when I'm not tired (which is not very often due to getting up early to write every day).
- 12 Monkeys - Missed it, keep missing it. Film 4 please show it.
- Gattaca - Seen half of it at a friend's house when DVD's were new, then had to leave. Now on my Amazon wishlist.
- The Prestige - I was very excited about it, and then never got to see it. Waiting for the DVD.
- Brazil - Saw some of it when I was younger, didn't like it, would probably like it now.
- Donnie Darko - Have it on DVD, see (1).
- Invasion Of The Body Snatchers - Seen a cheap/rubbish remake, haven't seen the original. Once again, Film 4, please oblige.
- Solaris - The original. I liked the Clooney remake.
- When Worlds Collide - just never seen it.
- Gojira/Godzilla - never seen the original, although seen lots of clips of Godzilla fighting giant Moths etc.
