Where do you get recommendations for new books to read?
I try and read a good chunk of the (novel) nominees from the Arthur C Clarke award, the BSFA awards and the Hugo awards. I also read stuff by authors I have liked in the past. And of course I read stuff that people are talking about on blogs.
A new book case for my office arrived yesterday. It's standing behind me in a box.
I'm excited about getting a new bookcase, now I won't have to stack my books.
I'll do a full review on Big Dumb Object, but the short version is that I loved it. Near future SF-thriller-espionage, with in-game MMORPG fantasy fights, speculatve predictions so good that some came true last week, twists and turns, characters that mean more to you as the book progresses and probably the best two page explanation of what it's like to be a software developer that I have read anywhere.
Not only one for the Slashdot crowd but also the SF crowd and the thriller crowd.
It's due out in January in the UK and October in the US.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7)
The order deadline for release date delivery (21st July 2007) is now past,
UPDATE

Submitted by Tom.
None of them. They'll probably still be reading Shakespeare. (Henry IV Part One?!?! Nothing happens!)
